In store at Newspaper Taxi we have an amazing range of handmade Christmas decorations. I think my favorite would have to be the little tree ornaments made out of vintage quilts. They are decorated with ric-rac and antique glass buttons.

We also have a great range of vintage glass baubles, ceramic ornaments and some super cute eco-chic stars that are crocheted from Jute. I have been gift wrapping some of my own Kissmas presents with vintage music scores, tying them up with brown string and embellishing the tops with the Jute stars. Very sweet!

Because our decorations are lovingly handmade, we only have limited stock of some styles. Please make sure you don’t miss out as we are already selling through our second and final order of some decorations.

I brought back a selection of tiny objects which I found along my recent travels. They now have a new breath of life in different surroundings and I’m sure they will look different again when they leave the shop to join someone else’s collection.
I often see pieces and ponder whether or not to purchase and I regret not buying some pieces. If I had been brave in my buying. I would now have an amazing collection of miniature cats. I actually don’t collect anything and all day I meet people that tell me about their amazing collections of nest’s or shell art or birds. One girlfriend collects anything to do with Nasturtiums, I gave her a beautiful tin that had Nasturtiums flowers printed on it for her birthday. She has an amazing assortment of objects that each fit their theme.
But I think a collection takes time and should never be forced. They can sometimes accumulate without you even realizing. Other times it can be very conscious and there are strict requirements of a worthy candidate.
I wish that I had a collection, perhaps I have one already and have never noticed.
I would love to hear about your collection. How it started, specifications, stories and stand out pieces. Maybe myself and others will be inspired to start our own! x

Two sweet little bluebirds.

A stack of vintage plates, vintage spool and a tiny carved wooden dolls arm.

Red Robin, tin funnel and a collection of honey toned vintage pieces.

Little Rhino, puppy dogs, jars of beautiful old marbles and stacks of blue books.

Fresh, colorful ceramic pieces.

Warmer woody tones with a splash of deep watery blacks and blues.

We have a lovely selection of items in a natural colour palette available in store. I have spent the last few days slowly rearranging the shop and setting up my vignettes with lots of new stock.

I think this is my new favorite colour palette: Creams, Ivory, Chalky Blues, Hessian and Ochre.

I love the new range of limited edition bird prints! They are just beautiful. They are available in a New Zealand timber frame or as a signed and sealed print to pop into your own frame.
The whole table is set with a collection of sculls, twine, pencils, vintage tins and old framed prints. It has the feel of an artists work bench covered in their collection of inspirational found objects.
