In store at Newspaper Taxi we have an amazing range of handmade Christmas decorations. I think my favorite would have to be the little tree ornaments made out of vintage quilts. They are decorated with ric-rac and antique glass buttons.

We also have a great range of vintage glass baubles, ceramic ornaments and some super cute eco-chic stars that are crocheted from Jute. I have been gift wrapping some of my own Kissmas presents with vintage music scores, tying them up with brown string and embellishing the tops with the Jute stars. Very sweet!

Because our decorations are lovingly handmade, we only have limited stock of some styles. Please make sure you don’t miss out as we are already selling through our second and final order of some decorations.

Here are a few pictures of some of the christmas stock available in store at Newspaper Taxi. The cards are just beautiful, they are hand made on a letter press in California. My fav is the partridge in a pear tree!

These little hand made beauties (which are nearly sold out ) have been lovingly cut and hand stitched from remnants of patchwork quilts. They are just divine. So soft and some of the old fabrics used are just amazing. Each one is truly unique.

Each decoration has a little prayer attached and can be used as a christmas ornament or given as a special gift. they would also look really good as a table setting tied around a napkin for Christmas lunch. I have hung my little star of hope above my desk, thanks Jeanette!
We do have more coming but that is all we will have available so don’t miss out.

I love my little cartons of glass baubles. They’re super cute and the sweet paper gift tags made from vintage girls annuals which are handmade in Melbourne. We also have some vintage christmas lights and baubles from the 1940’s which are sold separately and would look great made into a rustic christmas garland a-la Lee Mathews.

One of my favorite items in store at Newspaper Taxi is a set of 3 vintage feather tipped darts. We even have a dart board to go with them!
I also really love the white porcelain water colour palette which you can just see on the left hand edge of this picture. I have a feeling it may disappear from the store and be joining me on a trip down south along with my leather handled artist carry case and portable easel. A lovely trip to the country for a breath of Plein Air!

We have a nest of birds in store all the way from Scotland! They are handmade from scraps of vintage fabric and stuffed with sweet lavender. Great for Christmas stocking fillers and perfect to hang in your cupboards. We only have limited stock and quite a few have already found new homes so don’t miss out!

Speaking of not missing out – We have 6 complete ceramic children’s tea sets from occupied Japan C1940 in their original gift boxes!
The sets were found by a Sydney collector amongst the contents of an old storage cupboard in the back of a building that was once an old Pharmacy right here in Sydney. They have been left unopened for over 60 years and are in perfect condition. We only have 6 available in 2 styles. A classic Garden party tea set and a novelty Christmas tea set with a “Rudolf the red nose reindeer” teapot. Too cute!

We also have bobbins galore in store at Newspaper Taxi!
The vintage industrial bobbins look great in clusters or displayed in a glass vase. We have lots of different styles, some still have the thread attached. The larger styles can be made into lamp bases or even used as candelabras. Keep an eye out in store as in a few weeks we will have bobbin ended skipping ropes available for christmas.

I was so excited when the post man delivered a parcel this morning. It really was like christmas unpacking our new letter pressed christmas cards that have come all the way from California.
These folksy and festive designs are beautifully hand printed with an antique letterpress on tree-free cotton paper.
I just have to make sure I set a few aside to send to my family and friends before they sell out!
