I came back from Lismore inspired by the “Australian Country” color palette. Who knew that a wool-bound vintage coat hanger would become my muse!

I have been coveting new treasures and a few have now made their way into the store. In my head I have visions of old church fetes in the 1940’s. Community  halls with wooden floors, a stage at one end with a picture of the queen in a lemon yellow jubilee gown hanging on the wall.

We had a hall at Tullera and one at Dunoon where we held school events. Every year we did our end of school performance. I can still remember the the mismatched colors on the walls, the long wooden benches, cracked stained glass windows, velvet curtains, angels wings made from cardboard and the sound of bare feet running on wooded floors sanded smooth by time.

I love the dusty smell, the big old hot water urn’s for the endless cups of tea and cake served during intermission. A rusted water tank barely standing out the back.

This is my new inspiration. The handmade, small town community feel of these old halls. Old school dances and the memories of time gone by.
